SOP for Chlamydia Trachomatis

February 23rd, 2010 by admin

If you have symptoms of Chlamydia trachomatis, have yourself checked right away. Your doctor will perform specific tests to detect Chlamydia proteins and confirm your diagnosis. Once you are diagnosed, you will have to go through a course of antibiotics for treatment. Azithromycin samples, doxycycline, erythromycin or oxytetracycline can be used to cleanse yourself of the bacterial infection. When opting for azithromycin for treatment, 1,000 mg taken once is recommended. For the more severe cases, treatment can last up to 14 days. Chlamydia trachomatis is a highly contagious infection. That is why, until patients are cleared of it, doctors advise absolute abstinence.
